Apple Original Films has announced that a sequel to the 2023 action comedy “The Family Plan” is officially in the works.
The first film was Wahlberg starring as Dan Morgan – an ex-elite government assassin who is now living the quiet suburban life of a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman.
When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife (Michelle Monaghan), angsty teen daughter, gamer teen son and ten-month-old baby into their minivan for an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas.
The movie premiered December 15th and became the most viewed movie in the history of the Apple TV+ service after just one week – and held that record until the recent release of “Wolfs”. Back in March, director Simon Cellan Jones indicated a sequel was being talked about.
Cut to today and the studio announced the project with Wahlberg is set to reprise his role alongside Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby. The sequel takes place at Christmas in Europe where Dan has planned the perfect vacation for the Morgans, but his past continues to haunt them in unexpected ways.
Writer David Coggeshall and director Jones are also returning, while Wahlberg, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Stephen Levinson will produce.
